Making a difference in ecosystem restoration dredging projects

Dredging, Environmental & Marine Engineering (DEME) welcomes trainees to join our environmental team to make a difference in our global ecosystem restoration projects. We invite you to tag along existing tenders and projects in operation, to feel and touch the dredging world and to take the lead in developing innovative nature based solutions to concrete challenges.

Whether it is by creating a new harbor, maintaining a channel, installing renewable energy, or creating new land for port development, dredging plays a vital role in today’s and tomorrow’s economic development. Until now, dredger's main concerns have been environmental issues such as the disturbance of contaminated sediments, turbidity while dredging, noise propagation and disposal of dredged materials. Today’s dredging industry has met the challenge and has carefully addressed these issues with large investments in technology, know-how and equipment. These developments are made by men and woman having an interdisciplinary background understanding all aspects of the challenges at hand. Consequently, dredgers world-wide are looking for multidisciplinary teams to develop innovative solutions tackling environmental challenges and opportunities. Henceforth, environmentally sound dredging can be taken to the next level, if key marine scientists incorporate their best practices into state-of-the-art technologies from the inside of the industry.

Interested in using your scientific background in an industry setting? Captivated by the challenges of environmental sound engineering? Fascinated by cutting-edge technology? Keen in making a difference? Do a professional practice at DEME!
