Ha Long bay  and Tam Giang Cau Hai lagoon ( Vietnam) Foraminifera

The census of the benthic microfauna is important for  the biological studies to understand biodiversity and to create a database to monitor the distribution changes in time  of these organisms. In fact, change in the physical parameter due to anthropogenic or natural events, has a strong influence on the benthic marine fauna. Benthic foraminifera are small but important organisms because of their ubiquitous presence in all marine environments and their potential fossilisation can be considered very promising for past and present environmental characterization.

The students will have the possibility to analyse samples from Ha Long bay and Tam Giang Cau Hai lagoon ( Vietnam) two important sites in Vietnam characterized by different kind of anthropogenic impact ( tourism in the first case and intensive farming in the second). This is the first time that these organisms  are explored in the area.
