Australasian gannets are major consumers of marine prey biomass and play a pivotal role in the Bass Strait ecosystem. The region is one of the fastest warming oceanic areas in the world with major changes in ocean currents, species distributions and abundances anticipated as a result of global change. Understanding the factors that influence the foraging behaviour, and reproductive success, of Australasian gannets will provide insights into how the species, and the prey populations it depends upon, will respond to the anticipated environmental alterations. The successful candidate for this placement will have the opportunity to analyse recently collected data on at-sea movements and foraging behaviour in relation to environmental variables to address a wide range of research questions.
